2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for most across the world, not only do we have a pandemic on our hands but lives have been lost, jobs have been lost, homes have been lost, livelihoods has been lost and in all of this we need people. We need to have people around us to help us off load, share, cry or even just someone to lend an ear be it family or close friends, but we need people.
During these trying times so much can happen, depression can creep in, anxiety can start appearing and suicidal thoughts can surface. Now we all deal differently with situations some people don’t talk at all about what they may be going through those are the people that just needs a constant, how are you holding up text or call? Today my husband received a call that a colleague/friend of his tried to commit suicide because he felt it was all too much, and he couldn’t handle it.
October is the mental health awareness month and I feel like a month is not enough for something of this magnitude. We don’t focus on mental health as much as we do our physical health. Mental health is of such great importance as it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.
What is mental health defined as? Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Our mental health encompasses our psychological, emotional and social well-being. Mental health is important because it’s a vital part of your life and impacts our thoughts, behaviors and emotions. Being healthy emotionally can promote productivity and effectiveness in activities like work or school It plays an important part in the health of your relationships, and allows you to adapt to changes in your life and cope with adversity.
