There is no health without mental health!

2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for most across the world, not only do we have a pandemic on our hands but lives have been lost, jobs have been lost, homes have been lost, livelihoods has been lost and in all of this we need people. We need to have people around us to help us off load, share, cry or even just someone to lend an ear be it family or close friends, but we need people.

During these trying times so much can happen, depression can creep in, anxiety can start appearing and suicidal thoughts can surface. Now we all deal differently with situations some people don’t talk at all about what they may be going through those are the people that just needs a constant, how are you holding up text or call? Today my husband received a call that a colleague/friend of his tried to commit suicide because he felt it was all too much, and he couldn’t handle it.

October is the mental health awareness month and I feel like a month is not enough for something of this magnitude. We don’t focus on mental health as much as we do our physical health. Mental health is of such great importance as it affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

What is mental health defined as? Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. This is my truth straight from my heart strings as raw and as authentic as can be, this has made me who I am today. A story about a girl who was lost, overwhelmed and who had no sense of being. She had to make a conscious decision to stop existing and start living. She had to become intentional about her life. My hope is that my story will inspire, impact and give hope to a woman, a mom, a wife, or someone who does not know who she is, who is lost and overwhelmed with all the different roles she has to play and the hats she is required to wear daily. I need for HER to know, she can change things, and she can press the reset button on her life irrespective of her age. That it is ok to let go of her past pains, triggers and batons that may have been handed over to her. She is enough. She is worthy. Proud to be a Top 50 Blogger voted for by Get Blogged.
